how to create a website easy way.

Before you begin, read this:

(How to create a website)First of all, let me tell you that the website has become the best tool today. Today everyone is doing their business through the website,

There are hundreds of different website building platforms and website builders around the market.

WordPress, Wix, Joomla, Drupal… just to name a few.

You can also code your website from scratch, but we would not recommend it mainly for two reasons:

It just takes too much time (seriously)
Your final result is your best …
But which one should you choose?

Let’s take a look at these recently created figures.

How to create a website

As you can see from the graph above, in 2019, the most popular website builders (or content management systems) are:

WordPress (free) 52%
Wix (paid) 7%

Jumla (free) 4%
Progress Sitefinity (free) 4%
SquareSpace (paid) 4%
Weebly (paid) 2%

Here’s why most people use WordPress to create websites:(How to create a website)

Unlike website builders, it is completely free.

WordPress is the easiest platform we’ve ever worked on, but it is sufficiently flexible for everyone – small business websites, online shops, large organizations and so …

but more importantly:

WordPress vs. HTML and CSS: Learning HTML from scratch can take up to 6+ months, CSS and PHP alone. Having a basic knowledge of HTML allows you to understand things more quickly, but if you want to build a website in a day or two, learning HTML is not a viable option.

WordPress vs. Website Builders: Website builders are expensive and often very limited. They are good for one-page websites, but not many.
WordPress vs Joomla / Drupal: WordPress is just so user friendly.

If you want more details, we’ve put together a comprehensive comparison of WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.

If for some reason you do not want to build your site with WordPress, check out my Drupal, Joomla and HTML5 guides as well. They are all free to use.

But for beginners, we strongly suggest sticking with WordPress.

PS Don’t choose your stage yet. Most web hosting services offer one-click-install for WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. You can decide later and you don’t need to download / install anything.

How to create a website.

Step 1:  Get web hosting and register a domain name

To set up your WordPress (or any other type of website) in step 1 of creating a website, you will need two things:

  • Domain Name (a web address like YourSiteName.com)
  • Web hosting (a service that connects your site to the Internet)To store your images, content and website files, you will need web hosting. Without web hosting, your website will not appear on the Internet.

Having your own domain name on someone else’s domain feels more professional than on your site (like yourbusiness.my-free-website.com), and is super affordable as well. Most hosting providers offer domains for one year for free (usually ~ $ 15 / year).

In short – without web hosting and domain name, your website will not exist.

Can I get a domain name and web hosting?

Full disclosure: We earn a commission if you purchase Bluehost through our referral link in this guide. This helps us keep WebsiteSetup up-to-date. Thanks for your support.

We have mostly used Bluehost as web hosting and domain registrar.

Their introductory prices start at $ 2.75 / mo and they are currently throwing in a domain name for free (first year) – so it is worth checking them out.

They are one of the most popular hosting providers in the market, so they are definitely well established and secure enough to host your website.

Although most of their servers are based in the US, they can handle a lot of traffic from around the world. And it’s probably cheaper than your localhost. As someone who lives in Europe, we still like to use them.

Already have a domain name and hosting? Go ahead and proceed to step 2, where we will explain to you how you can set up your website.

How to sign up with a web hosting provider (and if you don’t have a domain name registered yet).

1. Go to www.Bluehost.com (or any other web host)
Remember: Since we are using Bluehost ourselves, we have negotiated a small discount for websiteetup.org visitors. Use this link to activate it.

2. Choose Your Website Hosting Plan

Once you click on “Get Started Now”, you will be taken to a page to select the hosting plan of your choice.

     1.Basic
     2.Plus
     3.Choice Plus

If you are on a budget, you can use their “basic” plan. This is very low for small sites or no traffic.

However, if you want or want to get more traffic to your website, we recommend choosing their “choice plus” plan. It is truly unlimited.

Whichever you choose, you can choose one for your needs.

STEP 2  Set up your website

Once you buy your domain name and set up your hosting, you are on your way.

Now it’s time to get up and running on your website. The first thing you need to do to install WordPress in your domain.

Install wordpress

There are two possible ways to install WordPress, one MUCH easier than the other.

1. To How to create a website with WordPress

(or Joomla and Drupal), use the “one-click installation”:
Almost every reliable and well-established hosting company has integrated 1-click-installation for WordPress, leading to a snap.

If you signed up with Bluehost or any other similar hosting company, you should find your “1-click-installation” in your account control panel.

Here are the steps that should be followed (should be same / same in all major web hosting companies):

Log in to your hosting (bluehost) account.
Go to your control panel.
Look for the “WordPress” or “Website” icon.
Choose the domain where you want to set up your new website.
Click the “Install Now” button and you will get access to your new WordPress website.
2.… or personal INSTALL (for those who do not use Bluehost or any similar host)
If for some odd reason (some hosting companies do not provide one-click-install for WordPress) you do not have the option to install WordPress automatically, see this manual guide below:

Install wordpress manually

Pssst – If they don’t have 1-click-installation, you’re probably dealing with a bad host!

Step 3 Design Your Website

Once you successfully install WordPress in your domain, you will see a very original clean site.

But you don’t want to look like everyone else, do you?

This is why you need a theme – a design template that tells WordPress how your website should look. See an example of a free WordPress theme that you can install:

There are 1500+ awesome, professionally designed themes that you can choose and customize for your own site.

Most WordPress themes are free to use and highly customizable.

Here you have to find the theme you like

1. Login to your WordPress Dashboard

If you are not sure how to type: https://yoursite.com/wp-admin (replace “your” with your domain).

What does this WordPress dashboard look like:

Everything is easily labeled. If you’re feeling a bit nervous, don’t sweat it – we’re going to show you where to go next.

2. Access free themes :(How to create a website)

Once you are on the dashboard, you get access to over 1500 free themes! Just search the sidebar for “Appearance”, then click “Themes”.

We have also compiled a list of the 27 most popular WordPress themes.

If you want something more professional or elegant that you find here, you can hand over to ThemeForest.net, where there is a large library of themes to choose from at varying costs.

But before doing so, we really suggest that you try to spend at least some time browsing free themes. Many of them are actually really professional and well made; So do not stop writing them.

As you can see above, it is very easy to set up a new theme for your website.

You can search for specific keywords and / or use filters to find themes to suit your style. It may take some time to find the right subject, but it is worth it.

You should also look at topics that are “responsive”, as it means that they will look good on any mobile device.

Just punch it in as one of your keywords, and you’ll be all set!

3. Set up your new theme
Once you find the topic of your choice, installing it is simple by clicking “Install” and then “Activate”.

Important: Changing the subject did not destroy your previous posts, pages, and content. You can change the theme as many times as you want without worrying about losing the things you have created.
